WSHL and Edson Aeros go dormant for 2020/2021 season

To our loyal fans, countless volunteers and friends.
.
After careful consideration and much discussion, the Western States Hockey League Board of Governors has decided to cancel play for the 2020-2021 season.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a tremendous amount of uncertainty with the ability to play hockey in this environment. Numerous discussions were held in regards to a variety of topics but the focus was on the safety of players, coaches, officials (on and off ice), billet families, and our many volunteers. Consideration was given in delaying the start of the season however given the current and potential restrictions in place for gatherings it was felt that the environment just lent to numerous assumptions rather than fact in addressing the many concerns.

It is with this in mind that we have opted to go dormant for the upcoming season and return the following year, bigger, better and stronger than before. We do share your sense of sadness and frustration with the decision but it truly is about you, the players, our staff, our Repsol arena friends and our many volunteers.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We’ll be back and ready to compete for the championship in 2021.

Be safe and stay healthy. We'll see you all soon!

sincerely
Axel and Sandy Axmann
